Application Process

Step 1: Inquire about Schechter

Please complete the inquiry form to request information. We will be happy to send you an admissions packet and follow up to schedule a personal visit to the school. You may also reach out to us directly at 617-630-4608 or info@ssdsboston.org.

Step 2: Visit us!

We invite all prospective families to come for an individual tour of the appropriate campus(es). We invite all parents/guardians to attend the visit. Please allow for 90 minutes for this visit; we enjoy taking the time to get to know your family and show you the things about Schechter that are top of mind for you.

Step 3: Submit an Application

Applicants 15 months -5+years (Toddler 1 through Pre-Kindergarten): Click here to access the online application (includes non-refundable online payment of $100 application fee).

Applicants for grades K-8: Complete the following steps by February 1.

Prospective kindergarteners and first grade students participate in a readiness playdate and screening in January. Students applying for grades 2-8 will spend a school day at Schechter in their current grade.

Step 4: Apply for one of our Financial Aid Programs (Optional)

We offer a menu of need-based financial aid programs to help families afford a Schechter education. Approximately 52 percent of Schechter families receive some form of assistance, representing families across a full income spectrum. Our goal is to partner with families who are willing to make a meaningful contribution according to their means to ensure that a Schechter education is financially accessible. We encourage you to apply!

Step 5: Receive Notification

Gan Shelanu applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and students are enrolled on a space-available basis.

Applications for Kindergarten through grade 8 are due no later than February 1. Decision letters will be mailed March 10. Financial Aid notification will be mailed in late March. After the February admission cycle, applications are considered on a space-available basis.

Step 6: Join the Schechter Community!

Students entering Gan Shelanu: If you would like, please contact us to arrange for a time for your child to visit Gan Shelanu prior to his or her start date.

Students entering K-8: Upon receipt of acceptance and letter and notification of financial aid, you may secure a place for your child at Schechter by sending a $500 reservation fee and a $1,000 deposit. (The reservation fee is returnable upon request when the child leaves the school, provided that the child has attended for at least one year.) The deposit is credited toward tuition.

We invite newly enrolled families to attend a reception for incoming kindergarten students to be held in the spring. New first, second and third graders can arrange a visiting time through the director of admission. Students in grades 4-8 are invited to join their new classmates for Step-Up Day in June.

For all incoming families: Through our active Parent Association, we are happy to connect you with other families so that you and your child can make new friends from Schechter. Our Parent Association also coordinates social gatherings for moms, dads, parents and families throughout the year.

"My initial phone call with Schechter's admission office put me at ease. The warmth and openness of the admission officers made us feel so welcome and they made it a point to get to know my child and what we were looking for so that they could be most helpful." - Schechter parent
