 Schechter Soccer—Spring Season

Schechter Soccer is back! Join us on Sundays, May 5-June 9 from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Schechter Soccer is open to Schechter students Gan Shelanu age-Grade 3; and to members of the community 15 months through Pre-Kindergarten. Kids are coached by parent volunteers through practice drills, followed by scrimmage games. This program is a great way for players to build skills, develop teamwork and have fun!

The participation fee is $54 per child for the session. Register by Friday, April 12.

The War in Israel and its Impact on Campus: Jewish Engagement and Social Tensions: Join Professor Eitan Hersh on Wednesday, April 17 at 8 p.m. as he speaks about his recent research into the impact of war in Israel and Jewish campus life in the United States. Eitan is a current Schechter parent and a professor of Political Science at Tufts University.  His research focuses on US elections and civic participation. He is the author of Politics is for Power (Scribner, 2020), Hacking the Electorate (Cambridge UP 2015), as well as scholarly articles. Eitan has written on topics ranging from antisemitism and the political consequences of terrorist attacks to politicization in health care delivery and the opioid crisis. He was recently profiled for his work in Boston Magazine

Project Zug: In partnership with  the Hadar Institute,  @schechter is excited to bring Jewish learning to the Boston area. Project Zug, matches individuals into Havruta partnership (small learning duos or trios). Each Havruta will be provided with thematic learning materials to study together over the course of the Project Zug session. Source materials are in the original text, transliterated and translated into English ensuring that all learners can participate. Each session will include an opening launch with all participants, 4 sessions with your havruta, and a concluding siyum celebration where all participants will once again gather

SPRING 2024: This Project Zug series will focus on The Balancing Act: Being a Jewish Parent. Sessions kickoffed on  March 11 and conclude with a Siyyum ( a celebration where all participants will once again gather) on May 9th (Rosh Hodesh Adar 2 until Rosh Hodesh Iyyar).

Learn to Chant Torah!: Never learned to chant Torah or want to improve your skills? We are excited to co-sponsor this 5-part Torah reading workshop with Hadar Boston making it free for you! Taught by local expert Torah reader, teacher and Schechter parent Shira Fischer. Wednesdays evenings March 6 – April 3, 2024.The first and last sessions will meet in-person at Lehrhaus. The three middle sessions will be meet virtually. Signup using this link by March 1, 2024.
