Schechter is indivisible

The dictionary will tell you that “indivisible” means unified, unbreakable, inseparable, joined together and permanent. Schechter’s people will tell you it means the many distinct, but inseparable pieces of the Schechter whole that do, and must, exist together to make this the extraordinary, singular, transformational school it is.

We often say that we need a lot of commas to describe Schechter. After all, Schechter is multilayered, nuanced, dynamic, ever-changing. We embrace all those commas! In fact, it really isn’t possible to tease apart our outstanding teachers, warm community, shared commitment to Jewish identity, high-level academics or even one day from the next. The Schechter experience is more than the sum of its parts.

Indivisible is the Schechter way of teaching and learning because every subject area complements and supports everything else. Complex mathematical thinking and probing the relationships in the parashat hashavua (weekly Torah portion) are part of the larger picture of how our students are encouraged to tackle the challenging, ask “what if” and “what next” and to make sophisticated inferences. Indivisible is each person from the youngest to the oldest, faculty to student to parent, who is a respected, vital contributor to our shared experience. Indivisible reminds us that all of us are wiser and stronger together than any one of us will ever be on our own. It captures the oneness of God, of Torah and of the entire Jewish people throughout history. Indivisible represents the very heart of Jewish tradition and culture.

We are proud to be your partners in raising the next generation of irrepressible, unstoppable, incredible, indivisible individuals.
