Welcoming children 15 months through Pre-Kindergarten

Schechter’s early childhood program, designed for children ages 15 months to 4+ years. It is a place filled with light and happiness where children grow, learn, make friends and flourish in their own way and at their own pace. Our certified early childhood specialists provide exceptional care as they introduce the youngest members of our community to the joys of a Schechter education.

We offer a play-based program that keeps children engaged and eager to come to school every day. A scaffolded curriculum allows children to progress year by year, building upon foundations that prepare them for more structured learning in Kindergarten and beyond.

Toddler and Pre-School classes make up our Gan Shelanu early childhood community and are located at 125 Wells Avenue, sharing a campus with students in Grades 4-8. Pre-Kindergarten classes are located at 60 Stein Circle, sharing a campus with students in Kindergarten-Grade 3. In this way, even our youngest learners have access to state of the art facilities and teachers partner across grade levels to build communities, establish reading buddies, student museums, fairs and more.

We believe that children’s work is their play. We operate on the premise that children must experience, explore and try new things to attach meaning to their world. Our thematic curriculum is play-based with a Reggio Emilio twist. We will take the lead from the children and allow the students to choose the direction our themes take. We recognize that each child is an individual and will meet every child where he or she is.

Jewish life and Jewish identity are cornerstones of our program. Children will not only learn the traditions of the holidays but they will also learn about Jewish values, Hebrew and menschlichkeit. Children will enter Kindergarten with a strong sense of Jewish identity as well as the tools necessary to navigate their growing world.
